Introduction

This gamified narrative VR experience educates public residents about the water purification process happening in their nearby municipal utilities, visualizing how reclaimed water is purified into drinkable water. The experience begins with a discussion on water scarcity, where scientists and policymakers debate solutions for a sustainable water future. This project was completed in collaboration with the City of Scottsdale and their water treatment center.

Users will be challenged to take action by visiting the Scottsdale Water Treatment Plant, where their journey into water purification begins. There, users shrink to a molecular level to experience the Advanced Water Purification process firsthand. As they navigate through the purification stages, Ozonation, Membrane Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, and Ultraviolet Filtration, they witness water being filtered and treated until it becomes drinkable through a variety of minigames.
