Introduction
SESE is a seated narrative experience created in collaboration with Dreamscape Learn that allows students to explore planetary and terrestrial landscapes using real NASA data. By integrating JMARS datasets, photogrammetry-based terrain meshes, and artistic environmental renditions, students are able to view terrains in a virtual environment otherwise inaccessible.
Borah Peak - seismic investigation
Students are given the opportunity to fly over Borah Peak using a virtual helicopter. This lets the students enjoy a panoramic scenic view, but as geologists in training, students will be tasked to measure the fault scarp height using interactive tools. This will help them analyze the earthquake displacement.
Jezero Crater - Mars exploration
Students witness the Mars sample return mission, arriving as a lander delivers a return rocket to collect samples in the virtual meeting room. Then, they can assess challenges such as rover failures and limited sample recovery rovers using NASA JPL planetary data.
